Todd's Hunting Method

Oh, hello! My name is Todd, and I teach new travelers like you how to hunt monsters. You won't find any real monsters around here, but if you venture out into the world, you'll find a ton. It can be quite dangerous if you're not prepared...

Let's discuss basic attacks. You can perform them by pressing the Ctrl key. Approach a monster, but not so close that you touch it, then attack with confidence! Got it?

Ah, you have a Jr. Sentinel Shellpiece. I see that Todd has taught you the basics of hunting. Now, I shall teach you how to use skills.

You see the Jr. Sentinel there? Attack it! Normally, they're very powerful, but Grendel the Really Old, the head of all magicians, put a seal on it so beginners like you can practice.

Once you successfully hunt a Jr. Sentinel, you can pick up the item it drops! In this case, that's a Jr. Sentinel Shellpiece. To pick it up, press Z while standing on top of it. Try picking up a Jr. Sentinel Shellpiece and giving it to Peter.

Press K to open the Skill Inventory and see your skills. Unlike regular attacks, skills can only be used after you raise a skill's level using Skill Points. You earn Skill Points by leveling up, but be careful when assigning those points to different skills.

The level of a skill affects how well it works. You have to calculate which skills will maximize your hunting abilities and invest in them first.

Assign skills to the Quick Slot at the bottom right of the screen. Just drag icons from the Skill Inventory to the Quick Slots and you're set! Right now, regular attacks might be the most effective, but later on, skills become devastatingly powerful.

That's about it for skills. As a gift, I just gave you an item you can wear on your head. Go to the Equip tab in your Item Inventory and double-click on the item to equip it. To check that you've equipped it, press E. Happy traveling!
