GMS v244 patch notes: Punch King, Reboot boss rewards and symbol costs
GMS v.244Patch notes published 66 min read
GMS v.244, Punch King Palooza, launched August 30, 2023. Its permanent changes reached much further than the Punch King event: Reboot boss reward eligibility, Potential, symbol costs, death buffs and many class skills changed together. The events below describe their original August–November 2023 schedules and have ended; the tables retain this patch's historical costs and skill values.
Reboot boss rewards and the live damage indicator
In a party of two or more, a Reboot character needed at least 5% of the party's total damage to the boss to receive boss rewards and Intense Power Crystals. The September 6 clarification specified that party size. Boss-defeat quests, achievements and quest-specific drops remained obtainable regardless of this new reward threshold.
Crystal pricing changed from the number entering the fight to the number of members who reached the 5% damage condition. Party HP UI showed eligibility as the damage distribution changed:
Indicator
Share of total party damage
Reward status
Red
Below 5%
Ineligible
Blue
At least 5% but below 10%
Eligible
Green
10% or more
Fully met the displayed threshold
Potential, trade limits and guaranteed Spell Trace options
Cube rank-up rates increased, and Bonus Mystical Cube produced Epic rank. Cubing stopped rolling DEF at Unique/Legendary; existing DEF lines stayed until recubed. Potential and Bonus Potential numerical adjustments also applied to already-existing lines.
Pure Clean Slate 5%, Innocence 30% and Ark Innocence 30% left that interface. New 15% Armor/Glove scrolls were added. Innocence on Star Force equipment gained another confirmation; meso prices gained separators and the over-17-star safeguard prompt became clearer.
Symbol drops and enhancement costs
Arcane River monsters could drop tradeable Arcane Symbol Selector Coupons, limited to regions whose initial symbol quest the user had completed. Cernium monsters could drop Sacred Symbol: Cernium Coupons after A Divine Power; Hotel Arcus monsters could drop Sacred Symbol: Arcus Coupons after that quest and [Hotel Arcus] 'Til We Meet Again. Reboot's versions were untradeable.
The following meso costs replaced the earlier enhancement schedules. The level labels are the levels listed in this patch's cost tables.

Retired content and retained shops
Dimension Invasion and Evolution Lab left Dimensional Mirror, and their related quests became unavailable. Dimension Invasion Defender and Deep Learning achievements moved to Memory. Spearman Skeleknights moved to Hilla's battle map. Evolution's coin-shop NPC left the lab, but Maple Administrator in Event Hall retained the shop through January 31, 2024 at 23:59 UTC. Town secondary-weapon shops sold Evolving Secondary Weapon Selection Box for mesos, excluding Katara.
Fight for Azwan left Dimensional Mirror and World Map, and its Coin Shop closed. Silent Crusade removed Mystic Gate NPCs/monsters/quests, its exclusive window/hotkey, Crusader Coin acquisition and Path of Kin. Bosses instead gave Spell Traces. Hero/Demon dialogue was added to stopping Commander Arkarium. Wence in Silent Crusade Hideout or Maple Administrator retained the Supply Shop through January 31, 2024 at 23:59 UTC. Monster Park General Store sold Mystic Eye Accessory for Commemorative Coins. Some Crusade achievements moved to Memory and new ones were added.
Content entry could automatically create/disband a party for bosses, Arcane River special content, Monster Park, Mu Lung Dojo, Tower of Oz, Ghost Park, Sharenian Culvert, Flag Race, Hyper Space Cube and Maple Tour. Story Magnus/Gloom/Verus Hilla/Black Mage/Kalos/Kaling could also create a party. Inferno Wolf/Pollo exits placed characters slightly farther right. Oz floor 24 gained a system-message backup for visual hints hidden by weather messages; date changes no longer confused floor information. Resistance's Infiltrate was blocked in Oz.
Flag Race hid medals, titles, guild names and androids. World Map destination flicker became clearer for Arcane/Sacred Power maps. Scrapyard Hill 1's left edge and Sky Nest III fruit placement were repaired. Cernium Square, Destroyed Cernium Square and Ramshackle Desert Town expanded. Moonbridge tentacles and Scrapyard falling objects were removed. Entering Horntail's Cave stopped cancelling dialogue. Cave of Trials 2's internal-cave hidden portal moved from the middle to the left edge. Midnight Chaser's exit button moved and Ranheim Defense gained one. Insufficient Star Force/Arcane/Sacred Power hit sounds became quieter.
Buff effects now remained after death through the Buff Freezer improvement. Normal Zakum/Zakum (Chaos) and Easy/Normal/Chaos Horntail moved EXP from component monsters such as Zakum's Arms to the final clear. This clear EXP was fixed and unaffected by EXP buffs. Ranmaru, Princess No (Normal) and Mitsuhide gained automatic parties and lost entry cooldowns; Gollux gained automatic parties.

Magnus's Slow/Undead ranges changed and Spin Slash became duckable. Regular-world Chaos Pierre/Von Bon (Chaos)/Chaos Crimson Queen/Vellum (Chaos), Magnus (Hard) and Papulatus (Chaos) added Bonus Mystical Cubes. Powerful/Eternal/Black Rebirth Flame drops were adjusted, reducing the regular/Reboot acquisition disparity without publishing new numerical drop rates.
Other boss
Changes, including August 30 additions
Papulatus
Chaos Clock Bomb damage 100% → 70% maximum HP; five-second consumable cooldown. Gearwheel Tongs hit range −13% with some locations moved. Torrent of Time switched to explosion/teleport after failing to deal its specified damage for a period; the repeated-Torrent forced teleport pattern changed.
Lucid
Dragon summon blocked Forced Teleport; Nightmare Golem locations changed to reduce movement obstruction.
Gloom
Terror-state characters received no Void Fragment creation; some fragments fell slower, showed warnings and had adjusted locations/speed to reduce repeated bursts at one spot.
Darknell
The three energy-ball types became easier to distinguish, with adjusted fall speeds, warnings and spawn rates. Bottom platforms and the map's highest area were lowered.
Black Mage
Authority of Creation meteor hit range −20%; Forces of Creation/Destruction no longer hit with a preceding attack.
Chosen Seren
Collision dealt no damage. Sword Charge in every phase and Dusk Sun Slash's first/second hits could be ducked.
Kalos
Explosion warnings more accurately showed attack range; fewer explosion areas appeared.
Practice mode added Extreme Black Mage; Normal/Hard/Extreme Chosen Seren; Chaos Kalos; and Normal Kaling. Practice entries changed from 20 daily to unlimited. Boss re-entry no longer had a wait, but all party members had to leave the prior entry location before another entry. Some monsters' recovery effects stopped displaying a healing image.
Boss reward chests retained the 100-attack requirement while their HP and damage received changed: Normal/Hard Lotus/Damien/Darknell/Verus Hilla; Normal/Chaos Guardian Angel Slime/Gloom; Easy/Normal/Hard Lucid/Will; Chaos Kalos; Normal Kaling; and Normal Mitsuhide.
Daily Gift changes effective October 1
The August 30 correction scheduled the following Daily Gift revision for October 1, rather than the patch launch. Rewards were account-transferable for seven days unless stated otherwise. Each listed 2x EXP reward contained two 30-minute coupons.
The meso holding cap rose 99,999,999,999 → 499,999,999,999, and Meso Market allowed 100 daily listings. Thirst Quenching gained detailed guidance; the Tera Character Burninator for All reward process simplified. Growth Potions explained the EXP ratio when used above their level range. Cash-inventory Label/Chat Ring coupons gained previews. Sylph Pendant Potential used ten-level intervals instead of nine. Some eighth-anniversary equipment explained Potential resets, and Paradise Sage Gown/Fairy Skirt/Sage's Dance descriptions changed.
The Background graphics setting also controlled map particles to improve low-performance PCs' play. Reboot Wonderberry wording was restricted to its actual rules. Ursus Golden Opportunity notices stopped after account entries were exhausted. Storage's View All retained its tab, Legion's hotkey could close its window, and Single Hair/Face/Skin coupons showed tooltip previews. The bottom menu accepted left/right arrows. Logout event progress/unclaimed rewards simplified, with some reminders appearing only in an event's final week. First-entry Cash Shop guidance was refreshed.
Blessed Ensemble Final Damage per member 2% → 1%. Blessed Harmony added permanent Final Damage +4%, while its per-member value fell 3% → 2% and wording improved. Benediction/Angel of Balance customization could immediately select reduced duration/cooldown without recasting.
Explorer bowmen
Skill changes
Double Jump delay followed attack speed.
Bow Master
Skill changes
Inhuman Speed's passive worked while its active effect was absent.
Marksman
Skill changes
Releasing Perfect Shot's mouse click after sniping no longer interacted with an NPC.
Assassin's Mark became 150% independent of character level; Night Lord's Mark became 255% at master, also level-independent. Shadow Leap delay fell approximately 18%. Dark Harmony Final Damage 10% → 8% and Attack 40 → 20. Death Star added +100 percentage points to Mark damage. Bleed Dart Attack 60 → 50.
Defensive Stance's Protective Shield reduction 30% → 25%, with its effect independent of transparency. Lord of the Deep entered combat only on casting.
Corsair
Skill changes
Firing Orders' installed Broadside bombardment range grew 33%.
Barrel Roulette stored one charge each 15 seconds, up to four; ordinary cooldown and its non-ice half-cooldown effect were removed. Cannon Barrage damage 750% → 780%; Rolling Rainbow 600% → 800%.
Tidal Crash's forward-movement stopping control changed to down-arrow stopping and stopped sharing Thunder's minimum cooldown. Lightning Cascade's passive worked while its active was absent.
Spirit Redemption became a toggle with revised effect/sound. Spirit Ward showed remaining Guardian Spirits in buffs/quickslot and ignored effect transparency.
Demons
Skill changes
Dark Winds High Jump followed attack speed. Level-25 Defender of the Demon cooldown 150 → 120 seconds, HP cost 5% → 4% maximum HP and duration 55 → 44 seconds.
Bobbing/Weaving could cancel by reuse with Jump or action customization while stationary on a platform/map edge. Shotgun Punch delay fell about 7% without changing link timing. Ballistic Hurricane became one broad attack instead of held fire, with new effect/sound, cooldown 45 → 15 seconds, 12-second maximum Combo Training stack duration on hit, 60 MP per use instead of 20 per held attack, and midair use. Ballistic Hurricane - Reinforce replaced Ballistic Hurricane - Cooldown Cutter.
Transfiguration removed Morph Gauge-based attack speed and passive gauge decay; Sword Mastery gained attack speed +1. Final Form used a consistent character hitbox. Dragonflare's passive worked while its active was absent.
Chain Arts: Pursuit and Muscle Memory I and Muscle Memory II additional hits stopped receiving cooldown resets; Muscle Memory I and Muscle Memory II hit cooldown 0.25 → 0.2 seconds.
Angelic Buster
Skill changes
Greatest Affinity could hide Soul Battery UI by right-click.
Ultimate - Deep Impact delay fell approximately 23%, movement startup 27%. Psychic Drain's on-hit recovery became normal-monster-only; a new passive could recover Psychic Points on boss hits, excluding Psychic Drain and some summons, with some Ultimates checking only the first hit.
Level-25 Conversion Overdrive cooldown 200 → 120 seconds; one prepared activation every 180 seconds, up to two; maximum current-MP-based Damage 45% → 40%.
Kanna's Vanquisher's Charm and Spirit's Domain
At level 30, Vanquisher's Charm changed Mana cost 15 → 40 and damage 300% → 330%: base/scaling 210 +3 per level became 240 +3. It retained eight targets, five consecutive attacks, movement/jumping while held and a 60-second cooldown. The extra 30 Mana stacks needed for Shikigami Doppelganger were removed. Mana accumulation after Domain was corrected to follow actual consumption; the paired cost/threshold changes aimed to keep the previous Stage-2 charging time similar.
Spirit's Domain retained 40 Mana, a 70-second Cursed Spiritstone, 600% ×3 against fifteen enemies every three seconds, periodic 3% maximum HP/MP recovery and Status Resistance +25. Its party Final Damage at level 30 fell 11% → 5%, changing 5 +0.2 per level to 2 +0.1. The new stages were:
Stage
Effects
Basic
The retained attack/healing, lower Final Damage and resistance
Boost 1
Basic effect ×2; party Attack Speed +1; caster Boss Damage +50% at 30, scaling 20 +1 per level; Mana costs −50%
Boost 2
Basic effect ×3; party Attack Speed +2; caster Boss Damage +100% at 30, scaling 40 +2 per level; Mana costs −100%
The update's effect block specified 120 absorbed Mana per boost, while its following change list specified 500 → 150. These two threshold statements conflicted; neither established a single consistent threshold. Mana stacks appeared on the top-right buff icon, the description was revised and icon movement was fixed. The design explanation shifted emphasis toward Kanna's own damage and the interaction with Mana reductions such as Summon Yuki-Musume and Mana Vein. Ghost Yaksha: Great Oni Lord's Legion retained lower-job Yaksha offerings across death.
Maple Chronicle's new books
Book of the Beginning added Explorer, Cygnus Knight and Resistance stories. Unlocking a job's book required its Book of Job achievement and at least one job advancement. More jobs and The Day After in Book of Arcane River were announced for later updates. Romi's explanation changed to guide achievement renewal.
Book of Grandis gained Shangri-La, unlocked after any character in the world completed Peach Blossom Paradise. Once unlocked, level-100 characters with [Grand Athenaeum] Visit the Grand Athenaeum, or Zero after Story Act 2, could enter through Maple Guide/Dimensional Mirror.
The event ran August 30 after maintenance through September 19 at 23:59 UTC for level-33 characters and Zero Chapter 2. A Tinkerer's Chest from Marvel Machine enabled Yulia's quests in major towns/Henesys Market's entrance. Tinkerer's Set explained the system; repeatable Tinker Til You Drop required 200 monsters within 20 levels and consumed one chest for a random shoulder or belt.
Each upgrade attempt also consumed one chest for a chance to improve an existing piece. Colors progressed Yellow → Green → Blue → Red → Black. A matching-color shoulder/belt supplied that color's set bonus.
Spiegelmann's hunting event ran August 30 after maintenance through September 19 at 23:59 UTC for level 101 and Zero Chapter 2. Kiosks in Henesys, Leafre and Nameless Town remained open through September 24 at 23:59 UTC, as did the ticket expiry.
Near-level monsters dropped Secret Tickets, untradeable and shared across the world's characters, capped at 200 daily per world with double acquisition/cap on Sundays. [Ring Shop] Spiegelmann and the Secret Ring Shop Visit displayed the balance. Very rare Top Secret Tickets were tradeable, uncapped and each gave twenty Secret Tickets outside the daily hunting cap; Sunday's doubling did not apply to their redemption. The September 6 clarification made shop progress shared between characters.
Neon Kiosk
Each listing had one purchase per world. Outer coupons/boxes were account-transferable for ten days; the listed resulting cosmetics were permanent and untradeable.
The challenge ran September 6 at 00:00 UTC–October 3 at 23:59 UTC; ranking rewards were claimable October 18–31, 00:00 on the first day through 23:59 on the last. Entry required fifth job and Vanishing Journey's story; Jett was excluded. Champion Toben Hair or [Punch King] World's Best Punch King Season 1 admitted the character to the lobby and preparation area.
Entering preparation removed existing buffs, so buffs had to be applied there before the challenge. In two minutes, twelve stages increased monster level, Defense and HP. Maximum score was 1,500. Talking to Toben afterward registered the result; only a full 1,500-point clear qualified for ranking, ordered by completion time. Equal times favored the earlier registration. Weekly scores reset Wednesday at 00:00 UTC, while personal bests and rankings remained.
Weekly rewards used the world's highest score, once weekly per world, claimable through Claim Your Weekly Score Reward! on level-101 characters or Zero after Story Act 2.

Rankings/rewards were separated by regular/Reboot worlds and by each of the 52 jobs. Deletion, open advancement or World Leap could remove a result. The town Status Board searched the currently selected job. Places 1–10 earned an untradeable seven-day World Best Punch King Chair Coupon, producing a permanent untradeable chair displaying the place. First also received World's Best Effect Coupon, with the same transfer/expiry restrictions, yielding the permanent job-emblem effect.
Tactical Relay stages, boosters and rewards
Tactical Relay ran September 20 at 00:00 UTC through October 3 at 23:59 UTC for level 101 and Zero Chapter 2. Cassandra or [Tactical Relay] Tactical Relay 2023 Is Here opened the window. Nine stages unlocked in order daily; a character had to press Start Mission, finish and press Mission Complete. Each stage could be cleared once per character per day, with the daily reset at 00:00 UTC.

1
Defeat 500 monsters within 20 levels
2

9
Defeat 1,000 Arcane/Sacred Power monsters
Three Daily Boosters were available during the event, at most one daily. Using one before, during or after that day's missions doubled all of that day's earlier and later mission points; it did not carry into another day. Daily rewards, once per world, were five seven-day account-transferable 15-minute 2x EXP Coupons after stage 3, an Extreme Growth Potion after 6 and a Symbol Selector (Arcane ×20/Sacred ×4) after 9.
20,000 Maple Points, untradeable/seven days; September 20 corrected this to once per account
Unless stated, milestone coupons/consumables were account-transferable for seven days. Special missions required 10,000 points and three solo Normal/Hard Lotus clears on a different character each time. Completing both gave the once-per-world Perfect Tactical Relay Chair Coupon, account-transferable for seven days.
Sixth Star chapters III and IV
Chapter III ran August 30 after maintenance through September 19 at 23:59 UTC; Chapter IV ran September 20 at 00:00 UTC through October 10 at 23:59 UTC. Level 101 and Zero Chapter 2 were required. [Sixth Star] Terry Came Bearing Special News opened the event.
Each chapter I–V required ten daily missions, five challenge missions and the previous chapter's reward claim, except chapter I's previous-claim condition. Claims remained possible after the chapter ended once conditions were met. Challenge progress generally had to occur during its chapter, with explicit earlier-progress exceptions below.
Daily selection had equal chances among seven assignments and one free reroll before acceptance; an accepted mission could not change or be abandoned. The listed assignments were sitting in Starlight Energy Chair for 30 minutes, collecting 100 near-level Star Fragments and using Starlight Concentrator, collecting five Dazzling Star Fragments from Elites/Champions, clearing Monster Park/Extreme twice, or using Radiant Hexagonal Starlight on a map. The assignment table gave temporary mission items a 02:00 UTC same-day expiry, while the separate mission-reward list gave 00:00 UTC. Quest-distributed chair/atmospheric items were account-transferable; reward copies and fragments were untradeable.
The one-day account-transferable Daily Mission Completion Box gave a ten-day account-transferable Starlight Growth Potion, with a ten-day account-transferable choice of a 30-minute 10% EXP Coupon, Nodestone or Arcane Symbol Selection Coupon ×3.
Clear every act of Black Heaven or Heroes of Maple
Black Circulator ×5
Clear 300 cumulative Tower of Oz floors
Oz Point Pouch ×20
Unless specified, challenge rewards were account-transferable for 14 days. Chapter IV Completion Box had the same transfer/expiry and contained Chapter IV EXP Potion, Karma Solid Cube ×30, Prepared Pendant of the Spirit Coupon and Pure Clean Slate Scroll 100% ×6, each account-transferable for 14 days; Experience Nodestone ×6 for 28 days; Karma Solid Cube ×20 for 14 days; and permanent account-transferable Hexagonal Star Glass Marble Chair. The pendant was untradeable for 30 days. Fourth Star Piece was permanent/account-transferable.
The September 6 clarification allowed Burning World's Star Pieces to transfer on World Leap, but required all pieces in the same destination world for the later Sixth Chapter.
Burning World Leap, August 30–September 13
After August 30 maintenance, Burning characters moved to Burning Leap Zone and could speak to Mover until September 13 before maintenance. Up to five level-150+ characters could move, whether or not they had a Burning effect; Zero required Chapter 2.
Destinations were only Aurora/Bera/Elysium/Luna/Scania in the same region. Characters could split across worlds. An empty slot was unnecessary unless the destination had already reached its maximum character limit, in which case a deletion had to free room; an existing empty slot was consumed when available. Guild membership had to end or the guild/alliance be disbanded through Mover or Guild UI.
Equipped items, inventory and mesos moved. Cash Inventory, storage, Auction House and mail did not, so belongings needed moving into character inventory first. Characters left after the deadline, with their mesos/items/cash items, were deleted.
Wongstaurant shop level/purchase allowances followed the destination world. Character-held Wongstaurant Coins transferred, while world-shared Wongstaurant Boss Coins did not. Neither could be used in Leap Zone, so their original reward/spending windows still mattered. Completing Step Up's level-220 mission also gave a once-per-account 10,000 Maple-Point Coupon.
Fairy Bros' autumn attendance rewards
The August 30–November 14 giveaway required level 101 and Zero Chapter 2. [Golden Giveaway] The Bros are Back opened the window. A check-in became available after one cumulative hour online on eligible characters and had to be clicked. Rewards were once per account, every seventh attendance. Golden Pass cost 3,000 Maple Points for one missed day, limited to incomplete days through the previous day.
All outer rewards below lasted seven days and were account-transferable.
Pet packages themselves were account-transferable for seven days. Each pet was untradeable with 90 days of magic, while its equipment was permanent and untradeable.
The Jett event had begun July 27 after maintenance. At this patch, its ending remained the end of the winter update, tentatively February 2024. Fourth-job-or-higher Jetts could choose one of 15 Explorer jobs through [Jett] Job Advancement to Explorer. Ordinary Jett play was scheduled to end at the first winter patch, tentatively November 2023, after which logging into a remaining Jett required the transfer. At the event's final end, remaining Jetts would become Beginners and Jett achievements would move to History.
The quest showed a cutscene, job selection and confirmation before converting equipment, stats and skills. Equipped items' main stats, bonus stats, scroll/Star Force enhancements, Potential and Bonus Potential converted to the chosen job's primary stat. Converted gear kept Star Force level and trade attributes, including an existing Platinum Scissors of Karma status. Temporary equipment was excluded. Other job-restricted gear changed enhancement values without changing its job restriction.
Only equipped items converted, except sealed/unsealed Genesis weapons in inventory. Dual Blade received a choice of Shadow or Charm rather than a Katara. Magnificent Soul Attack converted to Magic Attack for a Magician. Cannoneer transfer was unavailable while Susano-o's Baleful Blaster was equipped.
Skill and Boost Nodes converted to Experience Nodestones according to each node's level and accumulated EXP, with enough Nodeshards to recreate/enhance nodes to their previous levels. Shared Skill and Special Nodes stayed in V Matrix; core fifth-job skill nodes converted to the new class. Owned Familiars' main-stat and Attack/Magic ATT Potential bonuses converted to the selected job's corresponding stats.
Once all Jetts in the world transferred, a once-per-world reward supplied Trace of Jett, account-transferable for 365 days, preserving the maximum link effects of all stats and Attack/Magic Attack +35 and Legion Critical Damage +6%. It also supplied Magnificent Growth Potion; Growth Potion Selector Coupon choosing eight 200–209 potions, four 200–219 potions, two 200–229 potions or one Typhoon Growth Potion; Nodestone ×100; Symbol Selector Coupon (Arcane ×100/Sacred ×20); and ten 15-minute 3x EXP Coupons. These other rewards were account-transferable for seven days.
The required Jett count was fixed when the event started. Deleting a Jett afterward did not satisfy its transfer, and one unfinished Jett prevented the shared reward. Jetts were excluded from ranked content/events after the transfer event began. Website rankings moved Jett from Explorer into frozen Classic Jett rankings; the old Beginner ranking remained alongside a new one excluding converted Jetts. Jett Core Aura Package, Supernova Dust, Condensed Supernova Dust, Stellar Cosmic Dust Solidifier and Cosmic Dust Shifter had left Cash Shop on August 9, 2023.
