A Friend Departed

You must have been so shocked to learn how much time had passed here. To tell you something like this... I just couldn't do it. So I wanted you to have some time to adjust, to get settled in your new life. I think... I can tell you now.

Freud... I'm so sorry, but he's gone.

...Wait, what are you talking about? I thought you said the heroes were trapped in ice, from the Curse of the Black Mage.

Yes, but Freud was able to avoid it. His Onyx Dragon, Afrien, took the curse in place of Freud. He escaped the curse, but that was hundreds of years ago. He was only human...

So you're saying he passed away.

...Probably. After the other heroes were trapped, he roamed the world, telling their story to the people. I... don't know why he never mentioned you. But even if he was the Great Magician, he couldn't escape time.

No... Freud. I can't believe that I'll never see that stupid smile again...

Afrien awoke from the curse eventually, but an Onyx Dragon alone... Do you want to go see him? Maybe Afrien can tell you more.

(You will be moved directly to the map if you accept.)

I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you sooner, but I just didn't know how.
