The Mock Training

You performed admirably on that test. Perhaps I'll be able to use you for more than cannon fodder.

What test? Is the Empress safe?

The Master of Disguise test is one of my favorite methods for testing new recruits.

What?!

A true prodigy would have seen through the ruse, but we can't all be geniuses. You proved yourself able to solve complex problems. Shall I tell you more?

I will explain, if you'd like.

A knight should always ask questions.

Once, some time ago, the Black Mages did infiltrate our ranks. It was their master of disguise, and it caused quite a stir.

However, the Chief Knights were more than a match, as I had calculated they would be. The treasures that were stolen were recovered with no incident.

The ordeal has proved quite useful as a teaching tool. It is at once a lesson to never let down your guard, and a useful test of lateral thinking. Any knight who completes it has proven themselves able to handle rapidly-changing situations, and thus capable of operating in the field. Expect your first mission shortly.
