GMS v.257 Tallahart patch notes: Grand Sacred Symbol and Champion Challenge

GMS v.257Patch notes published 30 min read
Tallahart, the Grave of the Gods, in MapleStory

GMS v.257 opened Tallahart on February 12, 2025. The level-290 region introduced a Grand Sacred Symbol, while endgame boss adjustments and class fixes changed existing play. Champion Burning Challenge, Tirnog Hashtag and the continuing Extradimensional Visitors events ran toward March 18; their shops generally remained open through March 23. Those historical activity windows and shop deadlines were separate.

Tallahart and the Grand Sacred Symbol

Blue crystal structures and ruined monuments in Tallahart

Tallahart required level 290, 5th Job advancement and The Eternal Tree's Guardian in Carcion. “[Tallahart] On the Move Again,” available through the lightbulb, began the Primacy's expedition into the Grave of the Gods.

The story continued through [Tallahart] Carlisle's Clue, [Tallahart] Word Around the Saloon, [Tallahart] The Grave of the Gods, [Tallahart] Squall in the Wastes, [Tallahart] The City is Risen, [Tallahart] Wrath of the Gods, [Tallahart] Into the Breach 1 and [Tallahart] Into the Breach 2, [Tallahart] The Great Bridge, [Tallahart] Toward the First Seal 1 and [Tallahart] Toward the First Seal 2, [Tallahart] The Gods' Illusions, [Tallahart] Toward the Second Seal, [Tallahart] Suspicious Energy, [Tallahart] The Second Seal, [Tallahart] Mystery of the Illusions, [Tallahart] The Unseen Enemy, [Tallahart] The Third Seal, [Tallahart] The Sacred Treasure, [Tallahart] The Final Seal, [Tallahart] Toward the Illusion Temple, [Tallahart] The Decisive Battle, [Tallahart] Our Destined Roles and [Tallahart] The Battle to Come. Each quest carried the “[Tallahart]” prefix.

Phantasmal Priest, Night Knight, Nona, Sieg, Prague and Nameless Soul joined the region. Its monsters were Ash-Devouring Soul, Silence-Swallowing Soul, Judge of Storms, Executor of Eternity, Night Guide, Phantasmal Guide, Soul Slayer, Lost Soul and the elite boss Soul of Darkness.

Completing the regional story awarded Grand Sacred Symbol: Tallahart. It could reach level 11, gained 10 Sacred Power per level, and gave the following additional benefits. Sacred Catalysts could not move it, and Sacred Symbol Selector Coupons could not supply it.

Tallahart joined the Symbol Express Pass: after its story, the daily quest could be completed instantly for 900 Maple Points. The region also added the permanent untradable Destiny's Adversary medal.

Class changes and shared skill fixes

Decent Holy Fountain's delay began scaling with Attack Speed, and failed recovery attempts no longer spent a charge. Ordinary Holy Fountain received those same changes and a fix for summoning multiple fountains. Blizzard Tempest and Blue Blood's effect toggles were repaired, and toggles no longer worked at skill level zero in the affected skill interfaces.

Giant Potion, Advanced Giant Potion and Giants' Potion no longer hid the buff icons of the following summons and deployed skills. This was an icon fix rather than a listed damage increase.

Dual BladeAt level 30, Karma Blade's additional attack changed from 1,071% ×8 to 1,224% ×7. Up+Flash Jump no longer used Recruit's Agility.
Demon SlayerHEXA Demon Impact: Demon Chain correctly applied its attack-power reduction.
Explorer MagiciansMind Delve could no longer bypass its cooldown or cancel other skill animations.
KainShadow Step's stealth handled falling debris correctly. The notes also listed a Mind Break description update under Kain; that label does not identify a Kain skill unambiguously.
ZeroBurst Jump followed current movement when upward movement was blocked. Ego Weapon's Alpha icon and Shadow Flash's wording were corrected; controller attack combos worked again.
KannaHakumenkonmou Juubi's mana consumption interaction with Bellflower Barrier was corrected.
PathfinderBountiful Burst dealt its damage and triggered when Cardinal Deluge was used through a macro.
CorsairAutomatic Firing Orders summoned correctly and in appropriate positions; attacks continued after HEXA Rapid Fire's airborne shootout mode ended.
Blaze WizardBlazing Extinction and HEXA Blazing Extinction Fox Mode generated Savage Flame charges. Orbital Explosion gained an additional hit when Eternity hit, and its extra hits worked airborne and with Inferno Sphere. Savage Flame Lion Mode's lingering sound and disappearing buff icon were corrected. Flashfire's visible effect no longer survived its removal on death. Flame Elemental summoned correctly from Blazing Extinction and Savage Flame's Lion/Fox modes and HEXA Blazing Extinction; Salamander Mischief attacked correctly during Blazing Extinction's ordinary and HEXA Lion/Fox modes.
LaraDragon Vein Absorption became usable once an Absorption skill reached level 1.
HoyoungUpward Graceful Flight preserved the hidden state; Sage: Dream of Shangri-La correctly changed the affected decoration items and ears to black and white.
ShadeSpirit Claw and HEXA Spirit Claw's casting motions changed. Soul Splitter's delay fell by approximately 27%, created flames at a nearby Blade Imp - Trap-marked target after a missed hit, and could create flames in midair without nearby platforms. Fox God Flash's foxlight interval fell by approximately 60%.

Boss, field and Monster Collection changes

Extreme Chosen Seren, Chaos and Extreme Kalos, Hard and Extreme Kaling, and Hard Limbo lost approximately 11% HP. Extreme Seren's death count rose from five to eight, Phase 1 Sun Sword Energy's stun duration halved, and Phase 2 could summon at most three Avatars of Nerota instead of four. Kalos's Phase 2 revive position changed, Guardian's Infiltration attacks fell from three to one, Eye of the Abyss's range shrank about 76%, and Chaos/Extreme death counts rose from five to eight.

Other repairs restored skill effects after Tynos's summon cutscene, prevented Pierre, Crimson Queen and Black Mage reward boxes from sliding sideways when hit, addressed skill-related Epic Dungeon crashes and made High Mountain's Zeal of Blasphemy count toward stage progress. Tin Woodsman became Tin Woodman. Masterian Elite monsters and Field Bosses spawned again in Phantom Forest and Crimsonwood Keep.

Outside Sacred Power fields, Rune appearance cooldowns were standardized at 15 minutes. Declining to enter Inferno Wolf and finishing Pollo's dialogue removed that portal. Magatia's Dark Lab minimap, Eye of the Ishfira platforms and the Angler Proto-Suit tooltip were corrected; the latter showed the 1,000 charge requirement for Angler Company stages 4 and 7.

Monster Collection adjusted some ranks and renamed the Angler enemies as follows.

New collection entries covered Sloppy Marauder, Ferocious Marauder and Dangerous Marauder; Suspicious Outlaw, Enraged Outlaw and Menacing Outlaw; all eight ordinary/enhanced Scout, Trooper, Titan and Hornet entries; Prototype Centurion; Angler Early Alarm; Triton; Angler Commander, Angler Duke and Angler Sentinel; Ash-Devouring Soul; Silence-Swallowing Soul and its Fragile variant; Soul Slayer; Judge of Storms and its Black Chains variant; Executor of Eternity and its Dry variant; Sticky Soul of Darkness; Lost Soul; Night Guide; Phantasmal Guide and its Undead variant; Specter A / Specter B / Specter C / Specter D; Shadow of the Source; and Limbo Enlightened by Dark Truth and Limbo Enlightened by Light Truth. Senya Cube Chair and Limbo Cube Chair were added as permanent world-transferable rewards.

Interface, quest, item and shop repairs

The Miracle Circulator button read “Reset” rather than “Save.” Combat-status guidance moved to system messages. External-chat item tooltips appeared at the center of the game, the Guild window disabled the Cash Shop shortcut, and Buff Favorites correctly reflected multiple Smokescreens or Party Shields. Legion Coins could be claimed from the Legion window at any location. Soul Collector gained paging arrows, mouse-wheel paging and a bookmark return path; its two-skill entries displayed both skill icons and their information.

Character-selection buttons, Job Progression hit areas, Special Nodes/Artifact Tool text, Spell Trace and Transfer Hammer sounds, Cash Shop enhancement figures, Wonderberry result-window closing and resolution-dependent notification positions were repaired. Equipment comparisons correctly handled Tanadian Ruin, Demon Avenger's Star Force Conversion, pet set effects after Maple Auction use and different weapon constants. Culvert's countdown cursor, missing cutscene dialogue, Tower of Oz weekly ranking updates, Grand Sacred Symbol button flicker and reward-phase access also received fixes.

The remaining display repairs covered Heart Teddy Damage Skin (Unit), Cyber-Tirnog Action Damage Skin units, Flag Race scoring, Arcane Catalyst's mistaken Sacred Symbol wording, Heroic's missing meso-description text, Hyper Stat text overflow, Radiant Javelin II showing despite transparent effects, Labyrinth Master Label Ring overlapping guild details, and Nodestone's missing minimum/weekly-average Auction House prices.

Azwan Ghosts Who Speak Too Much could be completed by progressing through all Azwan quests. Expired quests stopped completing incorrectly; the Genesis Crux quest guide was repaired. Cross World Party Quest level-ups and Guild Castle selection in cross-world content no longer caused the affected crashes. Renault could send Phantoms to Kritias Station, and Kanna could complete Strange Letter.

Item fixes covered all four Basic/Deluxe Pink/Blue Nadoroid Ear Sensors on ropes and ladders, Crispy Fried Hat's icon, Pet Equipment Innocence Scroll 100% on Mechanical Heart, Charm EXP text, Sacred Symbol coupon tradability text, and Weekly Reward: Default Distribution Amount Enhancement 3 awarding Karma Solid Cubes instead of Karma Hard Cubes. Blue Soul Ring could be unequipped by affected Angelic Busters; Spiegelmann's Magic Hat text, Althea's Weapon while sitting, Home mannequins, Berserked Cape's toggle, Dream Blessing's combat-stance position and Pimp Stick's hand layering were corrected. Luminous Nodestones stopped producing the affected two-skill Boost Nodes, and multiple Dominator Pendants could no longer be equipped.

Storage Room NPC appearances followed quest conditions, and Neville sold Gold Emblems to Kanna, Hayato and Lynn. Purchase-limited Cash Shop goods could be bought in multiples, with Rewards Shop/special-item text and multi-purchase overlaps corrected.

Champion Double Up and its coin shop

Champion Double Up window with one Leader and two Champions

The continuing Double Up event ran January 15–March 18 at 11:59 PM UTC. Level-101 characters, with Zero's Act 2 requirement, first completed “[Champion Burning] Your Champion and Mine” through Dame Appropriation or the Event List. Participation was locked to one world per account. The first designated Champion was Leader, with two other Champions. The Leader could be changed once a week among those characters, losing any unused EXP points from the old Leader. The follower visual could be toggled in Beginner skills.

Level-range kills by the Leader, while alone or in a solo party, generated Double Up EXP Points for the other Champions; VIP Booster monsters counted. Points were evenly distributed with a weekly 100,000-point cap, then claimed on each Champion. Mega, Tera and Hyper Burning characters could use them. If the Leader leaped out of Burning World, another Leader could be designated there, but Champions left behind could not spend their points or use the shop until transferred.

The Leader's check-in required 2,000 monsters within 20 levels, three times weekly and 24 times overall. Each check-in granted every Champion 2,500 personal Double Up Coins. A 3,000-Maple-Point pass restored a missed check-in and its coins. EXP points and check-in records reset Thursday at 12:00 AM UTC. Coins and purchase records stayed with each Champion rather than forming a shared balance.

The Double Up shop stayed open through March 23. Its items were untradable and expired March 30 at 11:59 PM UTC; prices and limits applied per Champion.

Champion Challenge and Burning World Leap

Champion Challenge mission list with weekly boss unlock dates and Hard Verus Hilla

Champion Challenge began February 12 after maintenance and ended March 18 at 11:59 PM UTC. The same level and introduction quest applied, but Double Up designation was not required to attempt its missions. The selected world could not be changed. Up to three different characters in that world could complete each mission; a character completing one challenge could not attempt another that week. Each weekly mission stayed available after its unlock until the event ended.

Solo Darknell, any difficultyMarch 12, 12:00 AM UTC1,000

Coins could be claimed once per account for each completion reward, balances were shared within the world, and purchase records were account-wide. The special mission required three different characters to solo Hard Verus Hilla after February 12 maintenance. Solo practice clears counted. A qualifying clear after a mission unlocked could still count if “Challenge” was pressed afterward. Renaming a character retained its old name in the completed-mission display.

The special reward was a seven-day world-transferable Champion Medal Coupon for a permanent untradable medal that could not be anviled, plus Karma Abyssal Rebirth Flame ×50, transferable within the world for seven days.

The Challenge shop stayed open through March 23, with account purchase limits. Except the one-day VIP coupon, listed purchases were world-transferable and expired March 30 at 11:59 PM UTC. The shop's stated entry requirement was a designated Champion at level 101, with Zero's Act 2 gate.

The two premium selectors offered their respective Weapon ATT or Magic ATT 100% scrolls, transferable within the world for seven days.

Burning World Leap ran February 12 after maintenance to February 27 at 2:00 PM UTC. Mover in the Burning Leap Zone transferred up to five level-150 characters; Zero needed Chapter 2. Destinations were Interactive worlds in the same region, and characters could split across worlds. An unused slot was not essential below the maximum character limit, but a destination already at that maximum needed a deletion first. Characters had to leave or disband their guild/alliance.

Equipped gear, carried inventory and mesos transferred. Cash Shop inventory, storage, Auction House and mail did not. Untransferred characters and their property were removed after the window. Coupon backgrounds and completed Legion Artifact Special Missions carried over, purchase limits followed the destination world, and an unfinished Epic Dungeon run needed its records reset and a new run in the destination to claim rewards.

Tirnog Hashtag and Blueprints

Extradimensional Visitors continued from January 15 through March 18 for level-101 characters, with Zero's Act 2 gate. “[Visitors] Edea's Call” led into Tirnog Interior; those who completed it could keep entering through March 23. Blueprints for Tirnog then began with Cledd's “[Blueprint] Now Hiring Engineer for Tirnog.” Its Basic and Detailed Draft records were shared across participating characters on the account and reset Wednesday at 12:00 AM UTC. A missed eligible draft could be restored for 3,000 Maple Points.

Blueprints for Tirnog window with Basic Draft rewards and Detailed Draft objectives

Basic Drafts required a daily login, up to five weekly, with once-account rewards. Each also gave three seven-day 3x EXP Coupons (30 minutes), two seven-day VIP Boosters, five Dimensional Tomes and five Dimensional Orbs. Tomes and orbs were untradable and expired March 18. The milestone sequence was:

All these rewards were world-transferable for seven days except Tirnog in Miniature Chair, which was permanent. Drafts 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31 and 36 additionally gave an Otherworldly Sun Generator expiring March 18. Godhand Mount, skin, damage skin and Fairy Heart were permanent and untradable after redemption. Beauty Salon allowed a permanent untradable face-slot or hair-slot coupon. Dimensional Toadroid was permanent, untradable in Heroic and account-transferable in Interactive. The engineer coupon gave permanent untradable Tirnog Engineer Goggles, Tirnog Engineer Suit, Tirnog Engineer Boots, Tirnog Neon Sign and Made In Tirnog. The background was permanent and account-bound.

Detailed Drafts instead required 2,000 kills within 20 levels, alone or in a solo party, up to three weekly and 24 overall. Each gave EXP Voucher ×1,000, world-transferable for seven days, and Dimensional Spring ×1,000, untradable and expiring March 18.

Tirnog Hashtag customization window with a chair preview, check-in rewards and special points

Tirnog Hashtag opened February 12–March 18 after the blueprint introduction. Roan's “[Hashtag] Tirnog Special Tag System” awarded Hashtag Master Chair (3.0) to the first completing character in the world; additional coupons came from the meso shop. Its appearance, tags and emoticons could be customized only until March 18.

Hashtag check-ins required 1,000 level-range kills alone, once daily, five weekly and 20 overall per account. Missed check-ins could be restored for 3,000 Maple Points, with availability resetting Wednesday. Every record gave a Small Otherworld Sun Generator, world-transferable until March 18, whose charge did not consume the ordinary weekly recharge allowance. Five, ten, fifteen and twenty check-ins gave Symbol Selector Coupon (200/40), Karma Black Rebirth Flame ×50, Magnificent Growth Potion and Sol Erda respectively; all were world-transferable for seven days. Chair levels unlocked further customization at the milestone check-ins.

Hashtag Master Chair displaying a character portrait and a customizable hashtag

Level-range hunting could also drop Special Hashtag Points for character-specific decorations. Heroic points transferred within the world; Interactive points traded once, then only within the world. They expired March 18 and were consumed in inventory order. Five points bought a VIP Booster. Each character could use ten boosters daily, resetting at 12:00 AM UTC, to fight Flame monsters for up to 100 seconds; these monsters did not count for kill quests. Towns, wrong-level maps, special/event/Mirror World/story fields and a map with an existing booster blocked use. Two players could use boosters in a Heroic Grandis instance.

Gob's Gift and Tyrobot Playground

Gobs Gift Mysterious Blessing and Mysterious Energy upgrade trees

Gob's Gift and Tyrobot Playground shared the January 15–March 18 window and blueprint prerequisite. Luchta's “[Gob's Gift] Ancient God's Gift” exchanged Dimensional Tomes for Mysterious Blessing skills and Dimensional Orbs for Mysterious Energy effects. Participating characters shared each currency within the world. Ten more of each currency could be bought weekly for 9,900 Maple Points per currency. Raising a chosen benefit through levels 1–6 cost 1, 4, 7, 13, 20 and 25 of its currency at the respective steps.

An Otherworldly Sun Generator added 30 minutes of enhanced EXP time; account-shared charge decreased only inside the playground and paused offline. Additional one-hour charges cost 3,000 Maple Points, up to 12 per account weekly, resetting Wednesday. Jink showed and refilled the remaining time. Charges lost their effect after March 18.

Tirnog's spring and meso shops

The Dimensional Spring Exchange at Cheeko and the meso shop at Cheelo remained open January 15–March 23. Both required the blueprint introduction. Springs came from Detailed Drafts until March 18, with world-shared balances and account-shared acquisition/use records. The exchange used per-world purchase limits; “[I/B]” below means Interactive and Burning, “[H]” Heroic, and “[I/H]” Interactive and Heroic.

The VIP row also described unlimited purchasing while listing five daily; the usable daily allowance shown here is five, and this wording does not claim an unlimited daily grant. Legendary Circulator required an already-Legendary ability. Extreme Growth Potion required level 130, excluded Burning characters, and at level 200 or above awarded the EXP for 199→200. Purchased scrolls filled available scroll-bag spaces, coupons/use items followed inventory order, and redeemed bags were permanent and untradable.

Nadoroid selectors offered permanent untradable Basic/Deluxe Pink/Blue sensors; the Android Ear Sensor Clip acted on the currently equipped android. Froggie selectors offered permanent untradable purple, yellow or red chairs; the three mounts were permanent and untradable after redemption.

Space Star Pink Bean and Sunny Sunday

Space Star Pink Bean ran March 5–18. Level-101 characters, with Zero's Act 2 gate, began “[Space Star] Pink Bean's Stellar Entrance” through the event interface or Pink Bean in Henesys, Nameless Town or Cernium Square. Level-range hunting dropped Pink Bundles and Hot Pink Bundles, with the character's item drop rate applying. Pink Bundles transferred within the world.
