GMS v242 patch notes: Khali, Savior and Burning World
GMS v.242Patch notes published 83 min read
GMS v.242 began Savior on June 14, 2023. Khali followed on June 28 at 00:00 UTC, with separate Journey and Wish rewards. The update also changed class skills, Arcane River activities, Star Force and Burning World, while Wongstaurant introduced a different menu each week. All dated events below have ended; the mechanics and rewards describe this historical GMS release.
Khali's launch and skill progression
Khali was a Flora thief who used LUK and a Chakram, with a Hex Seeker as her secondary weapon. Her Arts attacks, directional Void movement and Hex attacks worked together: Void skills created Chakri, and Hex skills made those Chakri resonate. Several movement and defensive abilities explicitly ignored cooldown resets; the descriptions below retain those restrictions rather than treating every movement skill as interchangeable.
Attacks briefly recovered HP and MP and permanently raised damage; cooldown resets, cooldown reduction and buff-duration changes did not affect its special effect
A rotating attack whose range depended on the preceding Void Rush direction. It linked during or after Void Rush and after Void Blitz; required Insanity I level 1
Expanded Void Rush to eight directions and added damage along its path. Void Rush supplied temporary Dark Sight and brief hovering after movement stopped, could be used during Arts or Hex skills, and could be stopped immediately with Jump. Damage reflect and cooldown resets did not affect the Void Rush behavior. Required Void Rush level 10; level 20 was required for Insanity II and Deceiving Blade
Replaced Insanity I, increased Void Rush attack range on consecutive uses and allowed Hex links. Up to two midair Rushes, including upward Void Rush, were permitted regardless of cooldown resets. Skills other than Spark or Hex canceled the consecutive-use state. Reusing Void Rush during its movement immediately began the next movement. Required Insanity I level 20; level 10 was required for Insanity III
A Void hit prepared an extra hit triggered by a subsequent direct non-Void attack. Damage reflect and buff duration did not affect it; required Insanity I level 20
Sent multiple Chakrams outward, attacked while spinning at their maximum distance, then returned along their path. The Chakrams disappeared beyond their permitted distance; damage reflect did not affect them
Created multiple afterimages, each capable of creating Chakri, and supplied Dark Sight. Cooldown resets did not apply. Right-click customization let Void Rush without an arrow key activate Void Blitz
A Flora stat buff that did not stack with Maple Warrior, Call of Cygnus, Nova Warrior, Hero of the Flora, President's Orders, Anima Warrior or Rhinne's Protection
Removed qualifying abnormal statuses and granted three seconds of immunity. The note listed exceptions for some statuses and also named Combat Orders, without clarifying that final exception
The rose attacked nearby enemies for a limited time. Its attacks had a chance to create Chakri at the hit location, and created extra Chakri when fewer than the maximum number of targets were hit; damage reflect did not affect it
Granted invincibility and could be reused to pursue a target in range, prioritizing the highest-HP boss. With no enemy, it targeted the caster's position; pursuit and the final attack both created Chakri
The numerical entries below are v242 changes at the stated skill rank, rather than today's database statistics. Kinesis gained the shared Friends World fifth-job skill Afterimage of the Otherworld, a portal that exposed enemies' otherworldly appearances. Zero gained Transcendent, drawing on the blessings of Light, Life and Time.
Magician weapon attack speed stopped affecting the following skills. This was a change to the named skills, rather than a new weapon-speed bonus for casters.
Damage 140% → 240%; duration 60 → 90 seconds; cooldown removed; pet Auto Buff registration allowed. Haunted Edge's additional hit and missed follow-ups during rapid consecutive attacks were corrected
First four crash ranges about 20% larger; final crash about 21% larger; repeated hits reduced Final Damage; master-level damage 150% → 400%, hits 6 → 9
Faster throw and earlier explosion; throw distance about 21% shorter; stage 1/2/3 explosion ranges about +20%/+5%/+4%. Other characters correctly saw the explosion's casting motion
Master-level bonuses: Humanity: As-You-Will Fan 295 → 307 points; Ground-Shattering Wave skill family 215 → 220; Iron Fan Gale skill family 125 → 141; Stone Tremor skill family 230 → 245; Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame 190 → 215
Hayato's 23 Boost Node types became ten. Eight separate Sanrenzan/Blade Flash nodes became one, combining Basic Stance and Battoujutsu variations. Removed nodes were replaced using the consolidated-node priority.
Required EXP fell by approximately 19% at levels 220–224, 14% at 225–234, 8% at 235–244 and 3% at 245–259.
Arcane River Special Content became weekly, with three completions per week, counted on completion and reset Monday at 00:00 UTC. Vanishing Journey, Chu Chu Island, Lachelein, Arcana, Morass and Esfera each awarded fifteen matching Arcane Symbols per clear, plus EXP. Vanishing Journey, Chu Chu Island and Lachelein's EXP changed; Arcana, Morass and Esfera gained completion EXP. Completion EXP was limited to three times weekly per world. The Maple Guide's Special Content → Arcane River menu provided access.
Previous Dream Coins and Spirit Coins remained exchangeable for Symbols. Completing the old daily content before June 14 maintenance did not consume the new weekly completions afterward. The Express Pass cost became 2,000 Maple Points per completion.
Removed the Defense System; ten-minute limit; Bound Rock Spirit HP 500 million → 400 million; at least 10,000 Rescue Points to clear. Timing out or leaving through Exit did not consume an attempt
Symbol dailies
Increased Symbol rewards in Vanishing Journey, Chu Chu Island, Lachelein, Arcana, Cernium and Hotel Arcus
Daily quest EXP
Increased in Vanishing Journey, Chu Chu Island, Lachelein, Arcana, Morass, Esfera, Moonbridge, Labyrinth of Suffering and Limina
Monster Park
Increased Lachelein and Arcana clear EXP
Monster Park Extreme matching
Used statistics and prior Monster Park clear data to group four similarly capable players and keep expected clear times close. The matching range expanded after waiting unsuccessfully for a suitable group
Ursus battle entry and party invitations required 300 enemies near the character's level defeated that day within the world. The Dimensional Mirror and Boss window displayed the requirement. Characters could still visit the waiting map and its shop before meeting it.
Lachelein's Midnight Chaser replaced Dream Defender. Players had to find Mr. Flopsy nine times within ten minutes, checking furniture in nine Clocktower rooms after clearing each room's monsters. Dream Defender's ranking NPC disappeared from Lachelein Main Street, ending its Dream Coin rewards.
The Midnight Chaser reset was described as Sunday night at 00:00 UTC, at the weekly boundary. The general Arcane River weekly schedule above separately specified Monday at 00:00 UTC.
Star Force, the stat window and Monster Life
Star Force expanded its destruction-free range 12 → 15 stars, and its range without star loss 10 → 15 stars. Costs at 11–14 stars increased to keep expected meso expenditure similar despite those safer outcomes.
Detailed Stats gained Attack Speed, Attack Power and Magic Attack. Attack Speed displayed stages 1–8, slowest to fastest, with a bonus-speed tooltip when circumstances exceeded the displayed maximum. It combined the equipped weapon with skills and consumables, while magician jobs ignored weapon attack speed. The underlying speed values and calculations did not change.
Attack Power/Magic ATT showed the current values after their percentage bonuses. Those percentage effects excluded Monster Life's Lil Luminous (Equilibrium) Potential and Attack Power/Magic ATT per-level Ability.
Monster Life raised each monster's daily allowance for visitors combining without Essence 15 → 300. Farms visited between June 14 at 00:00 UTC and the update received the 300 allowance on the following day. Combining animations became faster. Newly combined monsters' lifespan and Potential duration became 60 rather than 30 days, with 40,000 rather than 20,000 Waru for a combination involving an SS monster. Existing combinations retained their old durations.

Daily missions were per character, reset at 00:00 UTC and paid up to 300 Wongstaurant Coins. Weekly missions were per world, paid up to 400 Boss Coins, required claiming in Main Menu after a weekly boss clear and reset Thursday at 00:00 UTC. Season missions were per world, paid ordinary coins outside the daily cap and had their record reset July 18 at 23:59 UTC.
Reaching the daily coin cap gave one Coupon Stamp per account per day. Stamps unlocked once-per-account rewards, EXP Points and Tasty Points. A 3,000-Maple-Point Coupon Pass bought one missed earlier stamp, up to the number missed. The 40,000-Maple-Point Wongstaurant Pass allowed a second claim of eligible stamp rewards, including earlier claims, but still required their stamp totals.
EXP Points arrived at 300 on days 1–6 and 500 on day 7 of each week. Main Menu redeemed them for EXP on level-200+ characters, or Zero after Story Act 2.
Tasty Points upgraded the Tasty skill through the Memories of Growth schedule: levels 1–5 cost 4, 6, 15, 30 and 50 points. At level 5, it supplied normal-monster damage, Boss Damage and IED +35% each; Critical Rate/Buff Duration +25% each; normal-monster hunting EXP +12.5%; all stats/Arcane Power +50 each; Attack/Magic ATT +25; and HP/MP +2,500. The skill ended August 29 at 23:59 UTC.
The Rith and Ellie's Momentree buff had been announced through June 18, but its independent skill ended with the June 14 update. Its stats were instead added to Tasty until June 22 maintenance, after completing Wongstaurant entry and acquiring Tasty.
Jayce's shop in Main Hall required Main Menu entry and remained open June 14 after maintenance–September 3 at 23:59 UTC, after the August 29 event end. Regular/Burning in the tables means Aurora, Bera, Elysium, Luna, Scania and Burning World.
Tenebris/Awake enhancement scrolls required the matching ring with remaining upgrades. The Main Menu's selector already included three scrolls with either ring, so those particular rewards needed no additional scroll purchase. Monster Life Gem coupons moved to the Cash tab and had to be used again to reach the farm's Use inventory. Purchased scrolls went into an available Use-tab scroll bag.
Applying Wongstaurant Damage Skin replaced an unsaved current skin. Event-ring cubes required an eligible ring on the purchasing character. Symbol purchases required the corresponding completed story. Character-slot coupons were blocked at maximum slots, but having one remaining expandable slot did not prevent buying several coupons.
Vigilante's Main Hall shop shared the September 3 closure and Main Menu requirement. Boss Coins were available for party clears, but a player who left while the surviving party cleared could not re-enter that weekly boss to recover the reward. Leaving before the kill or being dead at the clear prevented coins. Where a reward monster existed, it had to be defeated afterward.
The reward-monster condition named Chaos Crimson Queen/Pierre; Normal/Hard Lotus/Damien; Guardian Angel Slime, listed as Normal/Hard in that condition; Easy/Normal/Hard Lucid/Will; Normal/Chaos Gloom; Normal/Hard Darknell/Verus Hilla; Princess No; and Mitsuhide. The payout list separately named Chaos Guardian Angel Slime. Weekly boss records reset Thursday at 00:00 UTC, so coin claims had to precede that boundary.
The named reward targets included Lose Control Heaven Core for Lotus, Restrained Sword of Destruction for Damien, Slime Treasure Chest for Guardian Angel Slime, Final Music Box for Lucid, Lost Light Mirror for Will, Gloom Core, the Darknell/Verus Hilla chests and Chosen Seren's Treasure Chest.
Greeting Week opened after June 14 maintenance and ended June 20 at 23:59 UTC. It required level 200 and Story Quest Act 2, with Zero specifically required to finish Chapter 2. Talking to Wonky the Fairy began the event. Remaining online for ninety minutes qualified one day's reward, claimed in sequence through the event window. The June 15 correction let players claim the next day’s reward when receiving their June 18 reward, providing a missed-day catch-up. Completed reward claims remained available through July 4 at 23:59 UTC.
Together Week ran June 21 at 00:00–June 27 at 23:59 UTC, requiring level 200, Main Menu entry and Zero Chapter 2. Spiegelmann offered Quick Start with two other queued players or party entry for a cooperative game that rotated every twenty minutes. Reaching 50,000 points cleared a game and paid level-scaled EXP, up to five clears daily per world.
From June 28 at 00:00–July 4 at 23:59 UTC, level-101+ characters with Main Menu entry, and Zero after Chapter 2, could visit Kemdi. Competitive games rotated every twenty minutes; Challenge games were available at any time; Surprise games opened at the half hour.
Dessert Points were limited to 500 daily per world and 1,500 for the event. Each point exchanged for one Wongstaurant Coin through the coupon reward. Competitive games were Supernatural Yut, One Card and Risky Dino-Rush; Challenges were Cake Stacking, Colorful SAVIOR Invitation and Seesaw; Surprises were Savior OX Quiz, Savior Rock-Paper-Scissors and Savior Bingo.
The listed coupons and the outer damage-skin item were account-transferable for seven days; their contents were untradeable and permanent. The ice-cream reward had its separate permanent account-transfer rule.
Cheer Up Week, July 5–11
Cheer Up Week ran July 5 at 00:00–July 11 at 23:59 UTC. The requirement named level 101 and Story Quest Act 2, with Zero specifically required to complete Chapter 2. Cheer Up Week through the notifier opened Blake's buff window.
The account could choose a Stat or EXP buff four times per day, each lasting thirty minutes. Defeating designated bosses gave Enhancement Points; 100 points advanced one stage, 200 total reached the third and final stage. Daily targets Normal Zakum, Normal Magnus, Normal Pink Bean and Normal Arkarium reset at midnight. Special weekly targets Chaos Vellum, Chaos Papulatus, Hard Lotus and Hard Verus Hilla counted once during the event and also awarded Wongstaurant Boss Coins.
Attack/Magic ATT +30; Boss Damage/IED +20% each; all stats +30; HP/MP +2,000
The final-stage reward was Blake's Memorial Chair, permanent and account-transferable, once per account. Daily boss missions could contribute to that progression; a daily kill alone did not replace the stated final-stage reward condition.
Bubble Bubble Week, July 12–18
Bubble Bubble Week ran July 12 at 00:00–July 18 at 23:59 UTC, requiring level 101, Main Menu entry and Zero Chapter 2. [Wongstaurant] Pink Bean's Bubble Bubble Week began through the notifier. Near-level enemies dropped Bubble Tea Pearls; collecting them brought out a Bubble Tea monster, whose defeat added ten Pearls.
The event total was 1,000 Pearls. Each milestone needed its own Claim action and was once per account.
After reaching 1,000 Pearls and obtaining that day's Wongstaurant Daily Coupon Stamp, the Encore quest offered Bubble Tea: either EXP +15% for thirty minutes, or all stats/Attack/Magic ATT +15, HP/MP +1,500, Boss Damage/IED +15% for sixty minutes.
Hyper Burning's extended leveling and earlier reward deadline
Savior Hyper Burning began June 14 after maintenance. Its 1+2 leveling perk to level 250 was extended through November 14 at 23:59 UTC, but its reward claims still ended August 29 at 23:59 UTC.
The June 15 notice said new Beast Tamer creation would arrive in v243, so players who wanted to burn a newly created Beast Tamer needed to wait for that update.
One character per account could be designated: a new eligible character or an existing level-200–248 character. Jett and Khali were excluded. A newly created Zero was excluded, but an existing level-200–248 Zero after Act 2 was allowed. Burning World marked eligible characters for Set as Hyper Burning; declining created an ordinary character. The flame showed on Character Selection and designation could not be cancelled.
From level 10, earned levels supplied two extra levels through 250. Hyper Burning characters below 250 could not use Extreme Growth Potions, Growth Potions (200–209), (200–219) or (200–229), Typhoon Growth Potions or Magnificent Growth Potions. They could not claim Mega Burning rewards. Burning World's enhanced milestones and regular milestones for the same condition were mutually exclusive.
New and existing characters could claim creation support, including after deleting/recreating the Hyper character. Already-claimed level milestones remained once per account; existing characters only claimed levels reached after designation.
Creation support and milestone rewards
Support included untradeable seven-day Mysterious Cryptic Chest with a 30-day Snail pet; level-30 equipment, Legendary Cryptic Chest and time-restricted Root Abyss Set boxes usable through August 29 at 23:59. Legendary Cryptic Chest supplied permanent Frozen Hat, Frozen Cape and Frozen Suit and seven-day Frozen weapon/secondary boxes. The Root Abyss package supplied 90-day Royal Hat, Eagle Eye Top, Trixter Bottom and 15-Star Fafnir Weapon Box. Eternal Flame Title Coupon was usable through August 29 and yielded the permanent untradeable title.
Symbols, outfits, rings and titles below were permanent/untradeable. Nodestones, Experience Nodestones and listed coupons were untradeable for seven days unless a specific deadline is shown.
Burning World ran in NA/EU from June 14 after maintenance to August 30 before maintenance. Every character received Burning: EXP ×1.5, Attack/Magic ATT +50, normal-monster damage/Boss Damage/Critical Rate/Critical Damage +30% each, Knockback Resistance +100%, all stats +50 and HP/MP +2,500.
Up to three Mega Burning characters earned two bonus levels from ten through 150 and claimed Mega Burning Project! Gift Giveaway! rewards. Ordinary and Hyper Burning characters could not claim that package. Up to three character-creation claims, regardless of Burning status/level, gave permanent untradeable Flameborn Medal; seven-day Pearl Maple Armor Box with permanent once-account-transferable Pearl Maple Hat, Pearl Maple Suit, Pearl Maple Cape, Pearl Maple Gum and Pearl Maple Pendant, plus an untradeable Pearl Maple Buckle; automatic inventory expansion; an untradeable 30-day Hyper Teleport Rock movable to Cash Inventory; permanent untradeable Power Elixir ×1,000; and permanent tradeable Spell Trace ×1,500.
Using the account's Hyper Burning designation here prevented using it in another world. Zero creation required an existing level-100 character in Burning World. Up to five level-150+ characters could later leap to Aurora/Bera/Elysium/Luna/Scania in the same region.
From June 14 after maintenance through August 30 before maintenance, level-33+ Burning World characters with Zero Chapter 2 could start Participate in the Burning World Step Up Event!. Progress was world-shared and rewards once per world, regardless of Burning effect. Each mission needed Mission Start! and Mission Complete!. Another character could complete a Zero-ineligible task while Zero claimed its reward.
Unless specified, rewards/outer boxes were account-transferable for seven days. The level-220 outer box lasted until event end; its Unique Emblem Box was untradeable until event end, while the Unique Potential Scroll was account-transferable for seven days.
Burning World Leap, August 30–September 13
After August 30 maintenance, Burning characters moved to Burning Leap Zone and could speak to Mover until September 13 before maintenance. Up to five level-150+ characters could move, whether or not they had a Burning effect; Zero required Chapter 2.
Destinations were only Aurora/Bera/Elysium/Luna/Scania in the same region. Characters could split across worlds. An empty slot was unnecessary unless the destination had already reached its maximum character limit, in which case a deletion had to free room; an existing empty slot was consumed when available. Guild membership had to end or the guild/alliance be disbanded through Mover or Guild UI.
Equipped items, inventory and mesos moved. Cash Inventory, storage, Auction House and mail did not, so belongings needed moving into character inventory first. Characters left after the deadline, with their mesos/items/cash items, were deleted.
Wongstaurant shop level/purchase allowances followed the destination world. Character-held Wongstaurant Coins transferred, while world-shared Wongstaurant Boss Coins did not. Neither could be used in Leap Zone, so their original reward/spending windows still mattered. Completing Step Up's level-220 mission also gave a once-per-account 10,000 Maple-Point Coupon.
Jett transfer was a later Savior feature
Jett job transfer was tentatively planned for the second part of Savior. This v242 announcement did not supply the later transfer window or compensation rules.
Khali's Journey and Wish
Both events ran June 28 at 00:00 UTC through August 29 at 23:59 UTC. Creating Khali applied Tera Burning by default once per account. [Khali's Journey] Start of the Journey opened milestone claims, each once per account; deleting and recreating Khali did not restore already-claimed rewards.
The untradeable seven-day creation Lil Khali Pet Package supplied permanent untradeable Lil Khali's Chakram equipment and Lil Khali. The June 13 correction specified the pet as 90 days, revivable with Water of Life, and allowed its cash items to move into Cash Inventory.
Milestone outer gifts were untradeable for seven days. Unless specified below, their contents were untradeable for fourteen days.
Arcane Symbol Selector Coupon ×50; Unique Emblem Box
220
Arcane Symbol Selector Coupon ×100; Nodestone ×50; Growth Potion (200–229) ×2; account-transferable fourteen-day 17-Star AbsoLab Weapon Box and 15-Star Dominator Pendant Box, both listed in this release
225
Arcane Symbol Selector Coupon ×50; Nodestone ×50
230
Typhoon Growth Potion; Experience Nodestone
The title coupons yielded permanent untradeable titles with 30-day stats. Ruminating Will gave all stats and Attack/Magic Attack +10 each, maximum HP/MP +500 and Star Force +30. Blooming Hatred gave all stats and Attack/Magic Attack +15, maximum HP/MP +750, Boss Damage/IED/additional EXP +10% each and Arcane Power +30.
After reaching 200 on Khali, level-101 characters or Zero after Chapter 2 could start [Khali's Wish] Continuing Journey. The account could earn twenty attendance stamps, one daily, by defeating 2,000 near-level monsters and pressing Attendance. Reward delivery happened when checking in on the milestone day.

Other party members could keep seeing an abnormal-status effect after the affected character died and revived.
Explorer magicians' Infinity could fail to increase Final Damage. The published fix used unclear dead-state wording, so it did not define a more precise trigger.
Pathfinder's Cardinal Deluge could fail to charge the Relic Gauge correctly.
Cross Surge could retain some effects after expiring or being canceled. Final Pact's description was clarified, and its activation now properly removed petrification so that the character did not die immediately afterward.
Soul Link could be lost despite a delayed Buff Freezer resurrection, could leave party-member buff icons after a right-click cancellation, or could become inactive unexpectedly. Equipping Pierre's Normal or Chaos hat could remove Radiant Soul.
The Sylvidia mount skill could no longer be used during the fifth-job Sylvidia's Flight. Spirit of Elluel's second and third afterimages had activated even when the preceding afterimage had not.
Another character's debuff could play its sound on an enemy already affected by Divine Leer. Shadow Flash could place a sanctuary where the character could not move; this placement was prevented.
A tagged Throwing Weapon under Transcendent's Time Blessing could display a Long Sword in the afterimage. Burst Step could carry Zero off the end of certain diagonal terrain without landing.
Kinesis
Failure or behavior addressed
Reapplying Mind Tremor as its debuff expired could hide the debuff effect. Other players could miss Psychic Tornado's throwing motion.
Mobile Missile Battery could be used while hanging from a rope or ladder. Pushing condensed Erda in Erda Spectrum had a longer action delay than for other jobs. Distortion Bomb could display awkwardly when used in the air.
Xenon
Failure or behavior addressed
Beam Dance's cast sound was awkward. Some Hypogram Field effects did not follow skill-effect transparency.
Crystal Skill - Wings of Glory could show awkward wings when the caster died, and a Buff Freezer resurrection could leave that display wrong for other players. Other players could also see wings without magic power while the skill was active.
A party member's Charge Spell Amplifier could overwrite an existing spell buff with a shorter buff. Basic Buff could also stack incorrectly under the party member's amplification.
Scroll: Star Vortex's energy-absorption effect was missing. The background music could play awkwardly after a Buff Freezer resurrection while Sage: Wrath of Gods was active.
Sengoku Warrior Common
Failure or behavior addressed
Some skills with bind effects were not disabled in the Ursus map.
Kanna
Failure or behavior addressed
Other players could miss parts of Kishin Shoukan and Vanquisher's Charm. Yuki-musume Shoukan and Sengoku Force, Assemble! could face the wrong direction, and Sengoku Force, Assemble!'s summons sometimes did not attack.
Tengu Strike's other-player effect spread horizontally too slowly. Nine-Tailed Fury no longer darkened other players' screens.
Binding Tempest's transparency behavior was corrected. Its source sub-bullet described both an always-visible enemy-hit effect and an effect governed by transparency, without specifying the boundary between them.
Orochi Unbound's key-down ending motion was corrected for other players. Circle of Suppression could hide parts of its effect and the shield displayed on the character after activation; that shield was restored for other players.
Some Shouryuusen effects did not follow transparency, and Vapor Blade's effect could be invisible to other players.
Some Hitokiri Strike and Hitokiri Strike - Angle effects did not follow transparency. The separate enemy-hit and kanji-hit notes used both always-visible and setting-dependent wording without defining their exact boundary.
Sudden Strike could show no action to other players on every second use; it was corrected to show an action on each use. Instant Slice's action could also be invisible to other players.
Falcon's Honor no longer darkened other players' screens. Instant Slice could fail to cancel an action when Weapon Aura triggered.
Iaijutsu Phantom Blade's opening attack fired only one set of 15 hits instead of two sets of 15.
